The 2017 Pops Night was a big hit!
On Thursday March 23rd over 80 WA students showcased their artistic talents to a packed house! Pops Night is an evening that includes the artistic expression of students who are taking fine arts classes as well as though who are not. It is a performance opportunity for all interested students.
Dance performances included cultural group, line, hip hop, ballet, and tango numbers. The musical presentation featured individual solos, jazz band, a cappella and chorus.
Artwork on display in the Gardner Gymnasium greeted guests as they arrived. The evening was organized by WA fine arts teachers, Mr. Turner Kelsey (Music), Mrs. Gina Finn (Dance) and Ms. Heather O'Leary (Art). The Fine Arts Booster Club was also in attendance serving light refreshments. Bravo Pops Night performers and artists! We look forward to an encore performance of the WA arts at the annual Spring Concert scheduled for Tuesday May 16th.
The WA Boys Varsity Soccer Team received state championship jackets last week, in honor of their 2016 Class C State Championship title. Over twenty five letterman style jackets were given to players, coaches, and managers and can be seen being worn all over campus! Congratulations once again WA Boys Varsity Soccer!
The WA National Honor Society is getting ready for their annual prom dress giveaway! The group collects dresses through donation from those in the area who have prom dresses and formal gowns sitting in closets and no longer being used. This year the giveaway will be on Saturday, April 8th, 10am-1pm, and is open to all Washington County girls.
On Wednesday, March 29th WABI TV5 came to campus and interviewed those students involved with the giveaway. The segment aired that evening. NHS advisor and giveaway organizer Mrs. Mathy Terrill states, "It is my favorite project to be involved in."
If you have a dress that you would like to donate, please can contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call (207) 255 - 8301
