Justin Crosman '95 Named Boys' Varsity Basketball Coach

Washington Academy announces Athletic Director Justin Crosman '95 will coach the Raider boys' varsity basketball team for the 2024-25 season. Mr. Crosman states, "I am excited to coach on the court but even more excited about teaching character-building traits with these young student-athletes."

Head of School Judson McBrine remarks, "I am excited to see Justin Crosman take on the reins of boys' varsity basketball at Washington Academy. Justin is of high character and has demonstrated a love for Washington County youth in various school and community settings. I am confident that he will help young men build character, discipline, and respect. He will also work with his players to develop their basketball skills in a positive and fun environment."

For Coach Crosman, it's like coming home. He was a three-sport Raider athlete at Washington Academy and played three years on the boys' varsity basketball team. His father, Dean Crosman '75, is a member of the Washington Academy Athletic Hall of Fame, honored for his outstanding contribution to the Raider basketball program.

Coach Crosman brings over ten years of experience coaching elementary, junior high, and high school basketball in the community. He coached the 2013 Machias Valley Christian School boys basketball team to their championship and the 2022 Wildcats team to the junior high championship. Most recently, Coach Crosman has been the Raiders girls’ varsity basketball assistant coach and junior varsity co-coach.

Mr. Crosman also became the Washington Academy Athletic Director this year and is highly committed to ensuring a positive athletic experience for all Raider student-athletes. Beginning Thursday, June 20, he will offer a co-ed open gym opportunity for community sixth through twelfth-grade students on Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sundays from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Athletes will be able to work on skills and participate in drills and scrimmages in the Gardner Gymnasium.
