FALL ATHLETICS
BOYS SOCCER
"Everything we do is based on what we've done." These words were the foundation for Raider soccer success and three state championships over the past decade. And the most recent success of the varsity team: bringing home the Northern Maine championship title in 2024! The Washington Academy boys' soccer season consists of sixteen regular-season games. Home games are played on the campus's Machias Savings Bank Community Athletic Field.
GIRLS SOCCER
Girls' soccer at Washington Academy is popular and rich with team camaraderie. The Washington Academy girls' soccer season consists of sixteen regular-season games. Home games are played on the campus's Machias Savings Bank Community Athletic Field.
FOOTBALL
Raider football is a fan favorite at Washington Academy. Students and the entire local community enjoy Friday night football under the lights on the campus's Machias Savings Bank Community Athletic Field. The team plays eight regular-season games, including a very spirited home game on homecoming weekend!
VOLLEYBALL
Raider Nation is well represented on the volleyball court at Washington Academy! The sport consists of three teams, including varsity, junior varsity, and first team, with the varsity team winning six state titles over the past eleven years. The program is led by long-time, state-recognized head coach Corey Schwinn. The typical volleyball season consists of 16 varsity games and 8 junior varsity and first-team games. Home games are played to the cheers of a large fan base in the Gardner Gymnasium.
GOLF
The Raider golf team is a great opportunity to participate in an individual sport while being part of a co-ed team. Girls and boys compete in nine matches at nearby locations such as the Saint Croix Country Club and Barrenview Golf Course. Every season, Raider golf sends conference and state qualifiers to championship matches.
CROSS COUNTRY
Cross Country is one of the oldest sports at Washington Academy! "Running Raider's" success is evident in the presence of members of the 1964, 1966, 1967, and 1969 championship teams in the Raider Athletic Hall of Fame. Meets are held on scenic nearby trails, including a home course on campus.
FALL CHEER
Since the early 1990's, the Raider Cheer Team has been making a statement of spirit on the basketball court and later on the football field. With state championships and a history of success, the spirited team engages with Raider fans during game time and rallies school spirit during the school day.
