March

Coordinated with over twenty elementary/middle schools that regularly enroll many WA ninth graders, our school counseling staff and student representatives make personal visitations to eighth grade classes and teachers, offering topical presentations, personal insights, and discussion concerning curriculum, activities, and program opportunities.

November

Later in November, we host an open house event exclusively for area middle school students and their families. Raider student ambassadors assist faculty members with interactive department presentations and engaging activities and participate in panel-style question-and-answer sessions. Enjoy an evening focused on preparing you for the WA experience. 

March 

Early in March, we invite area eighth-grade students and their families to an informational presentation about beginning the experience as a Raider. School counseling members are available to assist with registration form completion and Program of Studies review. The evening will leave you excited about your first-year experience at WA. 

April

Early in April, we excuse the upperclassmen and set aside a day just for area eighth graders to learn about WA’s academic, extra-curricular, and athletic programs and activities. Hosted by WA student ambassadors, eighth graders receive a glimpse into their future, visiting all major departments on campus to meet and hear brief presentations by teachers and staff. Interspersed throughout the day are the all-important nourishment creations by our chefs in the kitchen and traditional entertainment featuring sound, light, and acrobatic performances by visiting artists.

The day concludes with a return to school with parents for an Open House. Enjoy dinner, brief introductions, and departmental meetings with teachers and school counseling staff.

May

With the seniors given the day off, all underclassmen, including area eighth graders, are invited to “step up” into the next grade life of a WA student. Using schedules that approximate their actual fall classes, students are guided throughout the day by WA student ambassadors to their rooms and events. The day concludes with lunch and outdoor fair activities including competitive individual and group events.

September

Held the day before the first day of school, this special day is set aside for all new students to run through their actual schedules, find their classrooms and lockers, and get acquainted with new classmates and teachers before the actual hustle and bustle of the year begins the next day.

September

In the fall after school begins, we host an open house for all parents of students in grades 9 through 12 to meet our teachers and staff and learn about our curriculum and extracurricular activities. Connect with WA faculty and other parents to build a vibrant school community.
