Wednesday, October 12, was a busy day of athletic honors and state championship celebrations on the Raider field and in the Raider gymnasium.
Kenori Simons '23 was honored before the start of his varsity soccer game on the Machias Savings Bank Community Athletic Field for his 2022 track and field performance. Raider Varsity Soccer Head Coach Bill Ashby presented Kenori with a personalized state champion jacket before Kenori took the field in the sweeper position against Lee Academy. Last June, Kenori won the 100-meter dash event at the Class C Maine State Track and Field Championship and added the win to his 2022 Penobscot Valley Conference 100-meter champion title.
Later in the evening, in the Gardner Gymnasium, in between Raider volleyball matches, Head of School Judson McBrine presented the 2022 Girls Raider Tennis Team and their coach Woody Moulton with personalized Class C Girls Tennis State Championship jackets.
The Wesley Foundation graciously donated the jackets to the Raider champions. The Foundation was established in memory of Wesley Keeton and actively focuses on youth enrichment by donating proceeds to area youth.
Mr. McBrine also presented Raider Volleyball Head Coach Corey Schwinn with a commemorative plaque for 100 wins as a coach! Coach Schwinn and the Lady Raiders are currently undefeated and looking forward to a solid playoff performance.
Congratulations Kenori, all 2022 girls Raider Tennis Team members, and Coach Schwinn! Go Raiders!
