Head of School Thanks Parents and Looks to the Future

Thank You and a Look Toward the Future

Dear Raider Parents,

As the 2020-21 school year comes to a close I want to take this opportunity to thank you for all

that you have done for your children during this challenging time. You have taken on roles that

you never dreamed of and you have partnered with our teachers to help ensure that your child

would be successful. It has taken determination, sacrifice and flexibility from everyone.

With increased vaccination rates, decreased positivity rates, relaxed CDC/MDOE guidelines and

smaller class sizes planned for WA, I am confident in looking forward to the start of a new and

normal school year in the fall and have all of our students back on campus for in person

instruction every day.

We know that our students need a warm, welcoming and affirming learning environment as they

return, so our Guidance Department and Teacher Leadership Team are developing programs to

support them through a daily extended advisor with an emphasis on supporting their

social/emotional health and strengthening their sense of community belonging.

As updated guidelines come out from the Maine CDC and the Maine Department of Education,

we will work to finalize the details of our Safe Return to School Plan, keeping the health and

safety of students and employees as a priority. We do not know if masking, daily health

screening, temperature checks, etc., will be required in Maine schools in the fall, but Maine’s

improving health metrics may allow greater flexibility.

In addition, we will assist families who want to continue with online learning to find options for

their children.

I hope you and your families have an amazing summer; you surely deserve it.
