Residential Life
There’s no place like home. That’s why WA works hard to make students feel like they’re with family. Residential students have a choice between living in a dormitory or staying with a host family.
Dormitory
The Cates House is home to 32 female students while the The Larson House and the new Boys’ Dorm house 60 male students combined. Some of the amenities are as follows:
• House parents live in each dorm, providing 24-hour supervision
• Each dorm has a lounge, storage, and laundry facilities
• Each room has wireless access to the internet
• Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are eaten in the cafeteria
• Each dorm has a modified kitchen to prepare meals or snacks
Host Families
Living with a host family is a great way for foreign students to immerse themselves in American culture. Host families are carefully chosen and are friendly and eager to open their homes and lives to WA students, sharing meals, going to the movies, and taking family trips. Frequently students and their host families stay in touch long after graduation.
Whether a student is coming from Toledo or Tokyo, living away from home can be a bit scary. But soon, Washington Academy becomes home, too!
