Planning for life after Washington Academy begins shortly after a student walks through the doors. It’s WA’s goal each year to have every grade 12 student go on to a post-secondary program whether it’s college, enlisting in the military, or entering a certification program after high school.

The following suggestions will be useful for your student during their time at WA:

Learn
It will ultimately be to your child’s benefit to take courses that are challenging. We want our students to build a high school transcript that shows they have explored rigorous courses and varied academic subjects.

Explore
Encourage your student to take every opportunity they can find to explore different interests. These experiences contribute to their journey to find a field of study or a profession that suits them. More importantly, these experiences contribute to their development as a lifelong learner.

Visit
WA encourages students to tour colleges and universities. Students can sign up for special college tour trips planned by the guidance department to view area schools. Internship and job shadowing opportunities are also important for students to find out what they would like to pursue once they have graduated from Washington Academy.

Ask
Your students’ teachers, coaches, and advocates are here to help. Extra help for struggling students after school with teachers or peer tutors. All your student needs to do is ask.
