The Kindness Guy

This past Tuesday, September 27, Washington Academy was humbled to have Michael J. Chase come and speak to us about kindness. He delved into his story, which induced a rollercoaster of emotions. Because of all the painful things that had happened in his life , he searched for inner peace, and found it through spreading kindness to others. The feeling of making somebody happier through a gesture of kindness is a change that everyone should try to make in their lives.

During the question segment of his speech, many students gave the "Kindness Man" a hug which then lead to students lining up to the door to receive an embrace. STAR students participated in an inclusive question and answer session after the school wide assembly to help figure out what they could do as a group to help spread kindness around our school. Even though these actions have not been executed yet, the visible effect that the speech had on the student body by itself was incredible.
