Cheerleaders Trade Uniforms For Pink Bows

The Washington Academy Cheerleaders traded in their maroon uniforms for pink bows, t-shirts, and poms on January 10 as they cheered on the boys basketball team. The cheerleaders held a bake sale with pink homemade goodies and pink lemonade during the JV game and raised $137 for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation! Since the beginning of the season, the cheerleaders have volunteered 18 hours out in our community.
 
"Community Matters More" Voting Begins

Bangor Savings Bank is pleased to announce that the 2012 Community Matters More voting begins January 23 and runs for six weeks, ending March 5.

Again this year, a total of 68 grants will be awarded to the organizations listed on the ballot and to the top 20 write-in recipients. The organizations in each of the eight regions (including write-ins) that get the most votes will receive $5,000 each. The remaining 60 organizations will each receive $1,000.

Swimmers Qualify For States

Three of Washington Academy's male swimmers have made the time cut off for the State Competition which takes place on Monday, February 20 at Bowdoin College. Caleb Beal has qualified in the 100 yard breaststroke, Bryan Albee in the 100 yard butterfly, and Jacob Brizee in the 50 yard freestyle. Congratulations swimmers!

Senior Citizen Lunch

Please join us on Monday, February 13, as Washington Academy will host a FREE Senior Citizens lunch. STARS (Students Teaching About Respect) students will serve lunch from 11:00 am- 12:30 pm.
 
Chocolate Fling

Don't miss this chocolate lover's dream come true! The Junior Class will be sponsoring a Valentine's Chocolate Fling on Monday, February 13 at the Machias Savings Bank Community Room from 4:00-9:00 pm. Please come and join the Junior Class and enjoy a wide variety of chocolate treats.
