"While my teaching style is lecture-based,
I try to keep students engaged with
various activities such as debates,
projects and oral presentations."
Mr. Fitzsimmons believes the best
teachers are themselves continual learners.
"It's important that I keep learning
myself so I can further educate my students."
He also enjoys learning from his students,
and tries to cultivate an atmosphere
of sharing and honesty in the classroom.
Mr. Fitzsimmons sees "play" as an
important part of a healthy life, and
likes both participating in and watching
sports. He is also a Dorm Monitor, providing
Washington Academy's male boarding students
with his enthusiasm and guidance outside
the classroom. He teaches U.S. History,
Civics, and Advanced Placement History.
