The Washington Academy Robotics Club meets every Tuesday from 2:15-4:00 pm. New member students and visitors are always welcome - Come in and Visit!
What we do - Last year we built a robot that could navigate around a room “without running into the walls!” This project took all year to complete. Students learned about electrical circuits and components. They used batteries, resistors, transistors, logic chips, motor drivers, and infra red transmitters and detectors. It was a lot of fun to see a plastic sandwich container with two wheels and blinking lights speeding around the halls of WA.
This year we have a large 3-wheeled robot and we are programming it using the BASIC Stamp Micro Controller. We will have last year’s infrared detection circuitry coupled with our programs on our micro controller to control motion - especially turning the steering wheel!
