Patience is an important ingredient in boat building. Here students are routing out the plank seams for re-caulking and applying finishing touches to a fiberglass mold.

Seamanship and Boat Handling are an important part of the Boat Building Program curriculum. Boat Building Students are taught the art of navigation for a variety of boats, from canoes to dinghies. Even in cold weather, students are able to tank-test their new designs in the nearby UMaine Machias pool.

The Graduation Boat Show is a proud tradition—one in which Washington Academy students, families and townspeople come to admire the skill and craftsmanship displayed in the year's impressive array of projects.
