Arts & More
Music: The halls are alive with the sound of music at Washington Academy. From casual enjoyment to serious music scholars, there's a music club for everyone: Jazz chorus, concert chorus, pep band, National Music Honor society, County Wide District and All-State music competitions. Our Tri-M Music Honor society has even traveled to Europe.
Drama: The WA Players put on one-act plays and a musical production every year and even take the show on the road to compete statewide. Students can work on any aspect of theater: set design, stage management, lighting, sound, choreography, acting or costumes and make-up.
Visual Arts: A club for students who love drawing and painting, illustrating comic books, making sculptures, designing murals, taking pictures, making digital art and just about anything else creative!
Communication: The perfect word for every occasion! Our students try their hand at journalism on the student paper; fill the pages of the Silver Quill, the school literary magazine, with fiction and poetry; take photos; and write the school yearbook and say what's on their minds in Public Speaking.
Academics: For the students who want that extra edge, academic clubs pick up where classes leave off. Economic decathlon, academic decathlon and the Envirothon team are whirlwind weekend competitions, a statewide Olympics for the mind. Some clubs focus on a single interest like the math team, math help, science club, creative writing club or the foreign language club.
Interest Groups: A little bit of everything! Activities include International Club, Future Business Leaders, Student Librarians, Prom Committee, Student Council,Video and Digital Movie Club, Knitting Club, Yoga, Ski Club, community service clubs, and Chess.
